Melissas Story

Melissa Kerkhove was born on July 28, 2004 after what seemed to be a normal labor and delivery. From the get go I questioned if she was OK.

She slept from birth 10-12 hours straight without eating. She had very poor head control and she would always try to arch her head back.

MELISSA’S POEM

There is a special someone
That the angels set apart…
A tiny little treasure
That keeps tugging at my heart.
She cannot do what others do,
She does not run or play;
But there’s a look within her eyes
That steals your heart away.
I cannot know what plans God made
In His great heaven above;
I can only take what He has given
And shower her with love.
Then sometimes in the stillness,
While I hold her tenderly,
I often feel that somehow
God is also holding me.
